A friend and I caught a small mess from Larto January 13, 2017. Not bad considering the outboard wouldn't start, though it started and ran like a champ in the drive the day before. Caught jigging laydowns in about 10 feet of water. There were a lot of people spider rigging, maybe some of you, and seems like they did about the same. Saw the spider riggers throwing a lot back, so there must be a lot of little ones. Color didn't seem to matter for us. Most of mine were on Bobby Garland shad in monkey milk with a red head. My partner caught his on pink/blue/black hand tie and black/green hand tied. Bass went 15 inches, biggest crappie went 14. We ended up with 13 total- 10 crappie, 2 bass, and 1 bream. Still a great day to be on the water because it was my birthday and a 75 degree January day!

Truthfully, I'm not exactly sure, as this was my first time on the system. We put in at the public launch at the inside of the lake and I think we fished saline bayou in sight of the ramp (sorry no GPS). There were lots of boats there (10-15) most of them spider rigging and a few hunters. We did not go out on the big lake itself since my outboard was not cooperating. Hope this helps. This is where we launched. https://www.google.com/maps/place/La...!4d-91.9416877

Yep! My birthday fell on my day off this year and the weather was a beautiful 75 degree day in mid January. Now if only my outboard had cooperated. O well, I guess you can't have it all. We had a good time, caught a few fish, and got back safely. Who can ask for more?

Hey kjsmith97 if you are interested, we are having a small gathering there the last weekend in January (2 weeks away!) Check the stickys at the top of the board if you would like some more information on it.
