    Default Cypress 10-29-16

Managed to scratch out a mess on Saturday at Cypress. I almost always take shiners because I don't trust my skill with jigs, but a red/chart and the grey ghost took care of me. With 4 poles in the water and a variety of jigs, I caught everything on those two. Fishing in 17-25 ft of water from 15-20 ft down. Great day and I enjoyed running into a few of the fine CDC folks that I haven't seen in a while.

I got a chuckle out of this...a young boy fishing with his dad was overheard asking, "Dad how to crappie poop?" LOL!!! Dad said, same way you do. hahaha Too funny.

Hope you all had a great weekend. I'm headed out of town for a week, and slammed at work, so the next couple of weeks before the gathering should fly by for me.

It was a slow weekend. I fished out there Friday from 8:45-5:00 and only managed to bring home 20 keepers. Threw back more dinks than that and a pretty good mess of channel cats. Probably in the same area you were. I caught most in and around the channel close to the dam. I fished it today from 7:30-1:00. Had 7 good fish and two medium keepers. Threw back 3 dinks and no cats. Lost a few good ones and several keepers. I threw in the towel when a stump ran all the line off one pole and took my crankbait. Theygotaeat was doing better than me, but around 11:30 only had what he usually has by 8:30 on most days. Overheard someone else jig fishing say they had 20 today. It might be time to spider rig over some tops I found.

I met Greg at the launch and saw him pull in quite a few yesterday, but no idea how he ended up. What I saw him catch were all good sized though. I was only there from about 7 to noon when the wind kicked up and I had other stuff to do anyway so I left. I was happy with what I caught though. Think I might have done better with shiners though. Never caught the first catfish.

We went out Saturday from 7 until noon. Kept 7 nice ones, threw back about a dozen dinks. We were in a 20' tan and blue pro gator.

I'm in a gray Tracker and have been trolling six to eight rods out of the front. If you see me out there, introduce yourself.

BR, keep your eyes out for a red tracker with four to eight rods off the front. That'll probably be me, so come say hello. I mostly fish on weekdays.
