I fish from the beach to the dam... find the shad and you find the crappie. They relate to the creek edge most of the time. We can meet out there and see if it's your cup of tea

I haven't fished in many, many years. I never owned my own boat. I was always at the mercy of my dad or friends. Last week, my wife and I decided that we'd love to start fishing together to get off the couch and outside. I spent a few evenings on the Red trying to break in the motor, then Sunday, I picked up my nephew and headed to Cypress to give 'em a go. We launched late to avoid the fog. We put in just as it was lifting. An hour later, the thunder. We ran up and parked in the new boat slip at the marina and waited it out. When the rain quit, we went down by the dam, straight out from the public launch, fishing the bottom of 18-19ft. Snagged three up quick then nothing. Ran up north of the beach and tried jigging around the edges of a 13ft Creek. Nothing. Went back to our first spot of the morning fishing 5ft in 18ft and grabbed a quick four. Then nothing. It's been a while since I fished Cypress and even longer since fishing crappie. I'm really stoked to get back out there and hunt them down. Maybe I'll bump into you out there soon. Nice job on your catch!
I am hoping to get out there Sat and take the wife. I'll give you a heads up. We just bought a new silver Tracker Pro 170. Going to try to fab up a spider rig before then. If we can't find them in the stumps, we'll troll by them until they're sick of seeing jigs in their faces.
Hey Greg you better leave my fish alone
I don't think he left any.
I'll be there. Going to try my luck with pushing some cranks. Probably going to be an expensive day. Lol!
