I would love to do nothing but brim/ crappie but finding the time to hop on the boat and go is harder than walking down to the local pond and get catfish...the gills in there are tiny.

I can tell you it will absolutely work. We call them limb lines. Just tie a line, weight, and hook to a limb or stump ad let it fish. Caught many a flathead that way.

Yep it's been done. I have seen it mostly on the Mississippi around riprap areas. Guy just sets some lines along the bank like a trap line and runs them twice a day. Usually works best overnight when fish come shallow. You have to conceal the line if it's in an area where people might be inclined to run them for you. Sure your gonna lose some but you'll catch some too. I also use to tie fish off on a stringer I caught... sometimes overnight and come back to get em the next day. Now on occasion you might have trouble with snakes and turtles getting em....and them dang river otters if you got them. Poor people along the rivers have done just about everything you can imagine at one time or another. I use to run hoop nets from bridges and dikes occasionally. The worst part is its just hard to free them if they get hung up without a boat.

I hate people helping run my lines for me. I would love to use cut bait at the pond but the dang turtles are ruthless.

Running lines is one of my favorite things to do. Limb lines are very productive but there is only one hook per line. I would make up a 5 to 10 hook line weight one side and throw it out. People do like to run your lines. I always sink them. If you have a boat I would try lake verret one of the few places people respect other people's lines. Good luck

You'd think fellow fishers would hate if someone ran their lines, so why run yours? Guess they want a quick free meal on someone else's dime.
I had the strangest thing happen to me on bayou dorcheat the other weekend. Ran 12 lines, none of the bait was on the hook but I didn't even have a single cat on the line. The lines were spread out too.

I fish limb lines from a boat in the Pearl River and I always tie them under the water.
