Had a good day Monday keeping 33 on a bayou off the river. Water is falling fast, shad on top everywhere you look. Couldn't buy a bite tight lining jigs. After an hour of nothing I pull out the ultralite and start casting a spinner, bam fish on, it was on for the next couple hrs.
Monday was so good I decide to take dad and try them again today. Guess what, fish no bite bite. Fished over 4 hrs for nada, zip, zilch, nothinggggg....
Fished same area as yesterday, tried same stuff, except today the shad were mouthing at the surface. Left there after a couple hrs to try a smaller bayou and actually saw bream and crappie mouthing at top of the water there. You could see them at the surface but they wouldn't bite.
I'm assuming they were stressed from low oxygen? Maybe someone can chime in with an explanation of what has happened.
Day one pics.

Nice fish !!
Had a similar thing happen yesterday while on black lake (maurepas) . Fished deep in the middle , maybe 9 ft at the most with no bites and started to move along with the troll motor . While dragging the jig up high in the water , caught a nice one . Started slinging the jig almost like casting and dragging it 2-3' under the surface and ended up catching 5 like that . Low oxygen my guess too .
Good fish
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
