Black Lake 5-23-16

I have been watching the water at Black Lake fall on the USGS site and knew the water was almost back to pool stage. So, today, I made an exploratory trip over that way. Fished from 6:30 until 1:00. I caught around 40 and kept 15 crappie and 2 bream. All caught on concrete pilings. I did fish the trees for a while, looking for some bigger fish, and didn't get a bite so went back to the pilings. Almost every one of the fish were caught on a 1/32 oz. black/green/chartreuse hair jig that I tie, the "Last Resort." It was amazing; I could fish the same colored jig in a 1/32 oz. and a 1/16 oz. side by side and never get a bite on the bigger jig. I did manage a few fish big enough to filet, but most of the ones I caught were scraping size or smaller. But it was fun even catching the ones I threw back. Here are a few pictures I made.

Good catch and report Pastor. I experienced something similar on the Bonne idee while back. I had 4 rods out the front pushing 1/8 ounce hair jigs and I was holding 2 poles with 1/16 jigs. The 2 poles I was holding out caught the 4 I was pushing with the heavier weight probably 3 to 1.
