Default Black Lake on Saturday 2/27

Thinking on trying Black Lake on Saturday. Just checking to see who I might have for company.

I am thinking of going. I hope this crazy weather hasn't got them all messed up. I knew where to go catch a few last week. Don't really know where to go, but I have an idea of where I will at least start. I'll be in my Black and Silver 18ft Crestliner. If you see me stop and introduce yourself. Tight lines to you.

Trying black lake tomorrow. Been there 3 times this year and fished around bridge. Trying to venture out a little but not sure where the straight way is or dicksons landing

Cd6, Dickson's Landing is at the end of B.J. Smith Road, which is off of HWY 486 (I believe). Only been there once. If you are heading north on 71 go about 1/4 mile past the junction of Hwy 9. A road will veer off to the right. It wasn't marked very well when I went last week. I never saw a road junction sign or a road name. Anyway, take a right about a 1/4 of a mile past hwy 9 and go maybe a couple of miles. B.J. Smith Road will turn off to the right, but once again there is no road sign with the name B.J. Smith on it; there is just a bunch of bright colored ribbons tied around a metal post. Turn right at the colored ribbons and drive to the end of the road and you will be at the landing.

There is a marked boat run all of the way to the channel, but be very careful, trim up your motor and go very very slow because someone didn't cut all of the stumps out of the boat run. The boat run must be 1/4 mile or more. It seemed like it was 1/2 mile long as slow as everyone was going. LOL. Did I mention that you need to go very very slow in the boat run? Once you hit the channel take a left. You will go around several curves, one of them has a canal cut off to the left out of it. When you get to the Straight Stretch, you will know you are there. If the fish are still biting there will be a lot of boats in the Stretch. Last week we found fish in 16-18 feet of water around 14-15 feet deep. Color didn't seem to matter. My best color was a blue thunder with a chartreuse tail.

Thanks very much for the details. Hopefully fish will still be somewhere around there.

Mr. Johnny, Tommy, and Trace went today and caught 5 fish. Water is muddy and the current has picked up.
I fish 7 days a week; some days for fish, everyday for men.

A few people may motor from the Hwy 9 bridge up to the Stretch, but mot me. I can't figure out which way that doggone channel twists and turns. If you get out of the channel with any speed up it just may cost you a lower unit, or worse. You might could do it. I am not even going to try it. LOL.
