Not many but running bigger this year...
Have not fished much lately, fishing mainly at Lake Martin. However, caught the biggest white crappie I ever caught, weighed in on my scale at 2pounds 12 ounces. Heard of one that went 3#4oz. a few days before I caught mine. I don't know if that one was a white or black crappie but GEEZ, those are big fish. This year the lake is losing a fight with hydrilla. Most of the good spots from last year are not fishable. Th hydrilla problem had been under control by the use of those weed eating carp (white amur) I think. Don't know if they died off and no new ones were introduced (these fish were released sterile so they would not over populate the lake). At any rate, the crappie are running very nice sized, just not as many. The best colors of jigs are solid black or brown with gray tail and wing on overcast days, and solid silver/gray on blue bird days. Here's a picture of that big one. B.C.
