    Default Late post on D'Arbonne

Maxwell328 called a few minutes ago asking about D'Arbonne. It reminded me that I had failed to make a report of my trip up that way yesterday. Well, it was a bust. Stopped at Chandlers and got me a few shiners. I don't normally kill shiners, but figured if I was going to drive that far, I may as well give myself every chance to catch a fish. Started fishing about 8:30 and quit about 3:15. Only one bite all day long and it was a 6 inch crappie that I threw back.

Water temp was 49-50 degrees. Spotted a lot of fish on depth finder holding 16-19 feet deep in 20-25 feet of water, just couldn't get them to bite. Fished up by the Hwy 2 bridge. Fished from the bridge down almost to the island on the left. Water was muddy and current was swift and the wind was a blowing. The one fish I caught was in the big flat just off of Hwy 2. Water in the flat varied from 10-15 feet. I talked to several folks who were having the same kind of success I was having. NONE. LOL. Maybe next time.

Don't feel bad Pastor. I went to Cypress Saturday and fished all day...only caught 2 keepers. Saw a lot of fish, but not many biting there either. There's always next time...

Pastor, At least you got to fish. Today would have been nice after lunch. This morning Linda couldn't come with me because of a luncheon date with some friends. With the wind blowing 10 to 15 I figured it would be some tough fishing but the tide was dropping and could have put them on the bite. Well I decided after listening to the weather forecast that I just as soon do something useful and fish tomorrow. I cut trees. As you would know it, from noon to three the wind died out and it was a beautiful afternoon. Too late, now I have to settle for tomorrow morning with 10 to 20 mph winds and clouds moving in later in the day. Who knows what it will be, gonna try if all comes together.

Yea, Jig Rig, it was great to be on the water and, yes, I did try that "Dodson Special" jig. No luck on it either.

Pastor, the fish bit all last week from what I hear. I gave them warning to catch all they could cause I'd be off work for the weekend to shut them down. I didn't end up going to dbone but apparently the threat of me going has the same effect. Sorry Pastor....
