    Default Woolen Lake 12/26/15

Went to Woolen Lake Saturday. Fished from 7 to 12, kept 5, threw back 4, and probably lost 5 or 6 nice fish at the top of the water. Nothing wrong with my hooks, bit was extremely light. Fished the middle at 6 to 7 feet (water depth 9'). Water temp. was 65 degrees. Only saw 3 other boats on the water. Fished Bobby Garland blue thunder.

Good report and catch. I haven't fish Woolen Lake in a very long time. I drove by it a few months ago and wondered if anyone still fished it. Glad to know that you are fishing it and catching fish out of it. Congratulations!

Haven't fished there in years. About 30 years ago I went there on a Friday evening to set out yoyos. There was a man across from the landing running from yoyo to yoyo taking off fish. He couldn't keep them baited. I thought to myself I've hit it right. I motored down from his last set and started putting my out. Hung one and baited and before I could get the second yoyo tied on a limb I had a fish. Whoopi. I didn't get another bite. I looked at the other feller and they had stopped for him. That taught me that they can turn off or on in the blink of an eye. Good lesson.

Not sure the name of the landing. There is a sign that says boat ramp with a fire dept. sub-station across from the turn. The landing is on one side of the road with parking across the road.
