    Default Thanksgiving eve REPORT

My son Jon and I hit the Grove late morning and had great fun fighting the wind. Although we didn't hammer them we had a grand time catching a few. I caught a bass of close to 3 pounds ( didn't weight it) and a slab of 1 pound 3 5/8 oz. It was 13 inches long, I almost forgot to weight it also and had the filet knife in hand when I remembered to do it. It was to late to do the bass as she was all in pieces. The 2 sacs both had eggs in them and some of the bass. My son caught all the rest.

Armand, no its not. Lots of people believe the spawn happens in March and April. Well it does, but some of them will spawn much earlier. They really begin to gorge them selves in December and January for a late January and February spawn. Each year I catch some large female with eggs ready to be laid at that time.

Here is a picture of some I caught 2 years ago. The 5 largest weight 9.75 pounds and most were almost at the laying stage. So it's never too early to fish for them. I'll be out there this year quite a bit if the weather isn't too brutal. Sometimes the fishing is slow, but sometimes it can be great, especially when those big ones are hungry.
