I can't stop thinking about Grenada

I last fished Grenada the week of Christmas....fished one afternoon and the next morning.....had a nice box of fish....fished 3' deep next to the bank...lake level then was 193'......weather was 75 that afternoon and 65 the next day.....NOW, it's 206 plus and with all the rain is probably a mud hole. If is clears up, it should be good anytime Feb and Mar. Depending on the wind. Have fished it for the last 25 years and really enjoyed it but it's getting so much pressure due to the publicity (SP). Getting to the point that you almost have to take your own stump!!! I live in the bootheel of Mo. and have been reading the posts and seeing all the pictures....think that you'll have a great resource in La. with all the lakes that are in the State. Am thinking about trying it somewhere down there this spring....When is the best time for the spawn down there? Would love to catch come crappie, see some gators and eat some of that great La. food.......jigpole

Thanks for the reply jigpole! I plan to hit Grenada a couple times this year. I need to find a source for lake info because soon as it clears up, I'm going to make a scouting trip over there, fish a few days and get the layout. I'd like to find someone to follow along with sometime.
Your gonna have to come down here when its warn to see a gator but we have the food year round. Poverty point in NW LA is our newest, hottest lake and is the one I think has the best fishing for numbers and big fish. Its near Delhi about two miles north of I-20. D'arbonne and Claiborne are good lakes in northern part of the state also. The spawn is never the same but around the end of March thru April are the best bet. Best bet for gators and REAL Cajun food is a 100 miles around Lafayette. If you visit northern LA, let me konw and I'll help you out. Seeya, Don

Thanks for the invitation and the info.....you're more than welcome to follow us around.....had a cabin on enid lake for 8 years and know several out of the way places the locals fish.....on both lakes.....will send you a PM with contact information.....It's rained for three days now and havn't done anything....My fishing buddy call and can't stand it anymore, wants to go duck hunting.....course we don't have the ice that other parts of the state has.....but we really have the water.....jigpole

jigpole, looks like Don has you covered for the north part of the state so if you ever get down to the south part of the state let me know and I would be glad to show you around. We don't have the size and numbers of crappie that the north does but I would be willing to bet that we have more gators! I could probably put you on some shrimp and crabs if the time is right though.:D
