    Thumbs up BLACK LAKE 8-24-15

I started fishing at 6:30. Nothing but a Goo until 10:00, but boy oh boy was he fun. From 10:00 until about 1:30 I kept 13 and threw back a few that were too small for the ice chest. It was a beautiful day to be on the water; not too hot, not too windy, and the fish finally cooperated. Most fish were caught in 8-10 FOW about 3-6 feet deep. All fish were caught on my version of the gray ghost that I tied on a 1/32 oz. jig. Very light bite. Some of the fish would take the jig on the fall and you never knew they were there except the line would quit sinking. Time to set the hook then. Had to watch the line all day.

It was good to be back on the water. Except for taking the grandkids tubing a couple of weeks ago it has been a while. Been even longer since I caught a mess of fish. Planning on having them for supper Tuesday night. Thank You Lord for a great day on the water and thank You even more for Jesus who died to forgive my sins.

I talked to several people while on the lake today and all of them told me the fishing was tough. One guy had given up on the crappie and was catching catfish using cold worms. He was wearing them out too.
The Lord is good. His mercy and love endures forever.

Thanks for posting . Feels good to catch them on baits you made. I would have had to put one back or keep a dink "13" bad mojo

Ditto on that. Any pictures from the Africa trip you made, or mission I should say?

Thanks, Pastor. After your reports last year I started tying up a fly-sized Gray Ghost on 1/64 oz jighead. Worked great last winter and spring, but then they went back to the black/chartreuse as it got warm. A nice mess of catfish wouldn't be bad right now... seasoned with Tony Chachere and Zatarans and fried in grease, or season filets in lemon/pepper mix and skillet grill in olive oil. Yum!

Awesome Pastor. Caught on your own jig makes that much better. I'm going in the am to field test some recent work.

Good report Pastor. Good to see your back on the home water. Haven't been here lately but plan on going after a few more of these cool days. Been putting out some tops on this little lake I live on to fish this winter. Did you catch em around the trees or bridge pilings. Hope to see you down there soon.
