Well its been 2 weekends and just 1 keeper. I fish a little oxbow lake east of Winnsboro, it's about 2o ft deep in the channel,,,anybody got any tips on where the Crappie might have gone and how I can find them. Just really got hooked on this terribile thing (lol) the last 2 years and I am just learning as I go. Any advise on how to find them in this hot days would be appreciated?

I'd fish around any cypress trees/stumps/stobs that might be in the lake.

If you have a depth finder look for any changes in the bottom contour of the lake such as a change in depth either up or down. Small humps or small underwater ditches will hold fish this time of year. And, you must remember that you are really looking for anything that will hold baitfish because the crappie will be somewhere close to the baitfish. Also, during the dogdays of summer, shade can be a very good factor. Look for boathouses, clumps of trees, or bridges that might give the fish some relief from the bright sun. I am no expert, but these are a couple of things that I look for during the summer months. Oh, and by the way, keep plenty of ice and cold water on hand for yourself. Dehydration is no fun. Good luck and be safe and have fun.

What pastor said. When the bottom comes from 20 to 8. Anything below 10 is tough in the summer, no oxygen down there. They tend to run a few feet shallower in the early morning before the sun is high. When your fish finder looks like this your good

Have you tried the Ouachita River, Beouf River, Morengo Bayou, or Lafourche Lake. People are catching fish on all these waters. Im going to D'Arbonne Bayou in the morning. Meeting my son Josh up there. Will give a report when we get back. I live in Columbia also. We will have to meet up and I will show you some places.
I fish 7 days a week; some days for fish, everyday for men.

When we lived in that neck of the woods my dad's favorite hole was Tensas river at clubhouse landing or Cooters point. He has hauled 100's out of that river on a smoke colored jig.
