New to Toledo Bend

Just moved to Toledo Bend from Saline Lake between Natchitoches and Winnfield. Great white perch lake except it is about lost to giant Salvinia.
Anyway this I a new learning curve for me, all open water with out trees. where I moved from it was cypress forest.
I now live off Hwy 1215 on the lake. Any areas suggestion for a newbie??????

Welcome to the board. There are a few on here that fish that area so they will probably pitch in and give you some hints. All I can tell you is with the heat I would probably stick to fishing some brush piles in 18 to 20 foot of water. We do have our annual get togehter the last weekend of February every year at San Miguel which is not far from 1215 if I remember correctly. Come over and meet us in February, it will be big fun for all!

Welcome to the forum. We have a bunch of guys that fish that area of the Bend. The 1215 area is a pretty good one. We have a gathering each year at San Miguel in Jan. or Feb. which is not far from the 1215. That also put you close enough to fish the Chicken Coup on the Texas side during the winter when the fish pile up in there. Good luck and befriend some locals, that's the best way to get on some fish real fast.

To start, pick one creek and learn it. Toledo is so big that it is overwhelming . San Miguel and San Patrico are near you

Okay, typically chicken coop is wintertime. But 2 of my friends limited on crappie last weekend in the coop, fishing shiners 38 ft deep. They were with a guide. Also heard a few catching 22 to 25 ft deep around Cypress Bend. Up until last week I could have met and fished with you. I sold my camp right down the road from 1215.
