What's the story with these at Lake D'Arbonne?

There are a bunch of old fillet knives hung in a tree near a sunken boat at Cypress Island. What's the story?

We fished there all week. Fishing isn't on fire, but caught some. The aren't spawning yet.

Guy runs commercial traps. Every time he burns up a couple of knives he will hang them there. Don't know why.
