    Default Jan 20, D'Arbonne

Fished Hwy 2 By the Bridge today. Between Both sides there was 5 Boats. Most Boat caught 2 to 3 Keepers. Bro is still using his Hi-Vis mono line and did not get a Bite. I Caught 5 Dinks about 4 inches. Then hit a pod of Big Crappie that was Hungry! I Lost Two, Two Pounders at the Boat and another that was almost 1 Pound we put in the Boat. Most of the Shad have vacated the deep water there, No fish are Biting deep. Still slightly Muddy

Larry, do you think they are beginning to move out of the deep water yet? Thanks for posting.

Tracker- You hit the nail on the Head. The water temp deep is close to the surface temp. I was tying on another Jig while fishing the edge. The Boat eased over into water that was only 16 Feet. That is when the Crappie Nailed It. The mud settling to the Bottom has to be effecting the oxygen at deeper levels, The Bite was 12 to 13 feet. That would push the Shad into Feeder Creeks, In effect, setting up a condition similar to he pre-spawn. I think it is temporary due to the Muddy water

Sounds like y'all did as good as anyone else. I was talking with some neighbors and we can't figure out why it's taking D'Arbonne so long to settle out after the rise; normally doesn't take this long. I think you're on to something with the oxygen. Thanks for the pecan; we like them for a snack while watching TV.

I'd have to say water rising quickly and falling out extremely quick as it did due to the spillway improvements could play a major factor in them acclimating to typical winter patterns. With the amount of rain we got the lake usually stays higher for a longer period of time.

That could explain taking longer to settle out; the lake started to raise about 01/01. I don't understand why it never got right before then. Normally by mid Nov the deep water bite is on but not this year. It started in Oct as normal but in Nov it got really tough and hasn't been as good as usual yet.
