And my lady n Pistol get to play.
Just my luck.
Adam, the first time and the last time I brought Linda to JB's she didn't think it was playing. JB put the sell on her and then the demo, and then the lessons. She was ready to go a long time before he was willing to let her go. I sat back and enjoyed the whole scene while having fun talking with the workers as they put together some rods. She finally said we got to go and I paid the price, not only to JB but all the way home. Sometimes she still brings up the trip there. I tried to stop a couple of times when we were passing through but she would have nothing of it. I just laugh.

Hey Adam,
Tell Pistol to pick me up a couple of rods cod.![]()
Mr Gene, we're on the same page. My future bride and Pistol went on road trip to pick up Bug. Sent me the pic I Posted asking questions. She's not too shabby of a jig poler , nothing like you andMr m, but she can lay a rifle dead on anything that's not dead… but when I saw the pic n questions I said "yeh he's a legend, go in and ask questions!" I knew I'd get a laugh from what I've read here about mr JB. I tried to put her in a bind and I did.
2 hrs n $120 later she was gone. Since I have gotten home from work she's been shooting jigs down the hallway. ALL cats n dogs have met their day when it comes to the hallway.
Mr M,
The lady got one. And she also paid for 2 of $30 bags.
BUT she's got the story and can tell it.
And after she explained some to me with one of his graphite poles in my hand, I learned a bit…
An 1/8 of what I got from u on the water. :-)
The Lady got some fishing notes and pics n jig shoot'n videos, I'll post later.
Here's one of Pistol n the "greatest fisherman in the world"

Great picture Adam. I would have loved to sit in his back seat only once. Can you imagine all you could have learned and most of all watch the worlds best jig pole fisherman. I saw a film short of him fishing once. He was fishing among and beneath tree in probably Old River. It was amazing to watch him flip his jig 30, 40, or even more feet into small pockets between the tree and brush with out lifting his pole above horizontal which was about 3 foot above the water. He has the skill of a surgeon when it comes to placing a jig in just the right place. After I first saw that film, I tried to locate JB as I had not heard of him before. When I finally found him he had just quite taking people out fishing. I had missed out on a trip of a lifetime. In your picture he's looking frail but healthy and I hope he stays that way for a long time for the benefit of those who encounter him and hear his stories. He's a legend for sure.
Progator and Alboy79, you would just have to meet JB to understand. Once you meet him you know that you have met a man who passion for fishing sac-au-lait and bream is greater than anyone you've every met. Bruce and I took a one day seminar with him at LSU. Needless to say I didn't graduate from the top of the class, but I did learn a lot. Over the years I've been able with practice to get only fair at flipping a jig like JB and I'm still getting better. JR is very good at it as I've seen him doing it on occasion.
Meeting JB has been a blessing and when he's gone he will never be replaced. As they say, "once he was made, God broke the mold".
