Default Crappie Fishing in the Monroe Area?

I've been a member of Crappie.com for several years but usually log-in to the North Carolina forum because my primary residence is in North Carolina. My wife and I are in the process of buying a small home in West Monroe and we're planning to spend the winter months there. Our son and his fiancee are there and we wanted to be closer for the holidays plus we're getting a little older and can stand a little more warmth in the winter. Gonna relocate at least one boat plus a kayak but will probably leave my fishing pontoon in NC. I know the winter months in NC are prime crappie season and I assume the same would be true here. Grateful for any information y'all are willing to share. Thanks...

Yeah...you can get em around 40 ft deep on a banana peel.....ha just kiddin. Plenty of info to be had. Darbonne is right down the road from you and Im sure you can spend plenty of time on that one learning all the hot spots. Plus the Ouachita River is right close. Welcome and good luck! and....If you feel like heading about an hour west, give me a holler Ill show you a couple good spots on lake Bistineau.

Welcome to Louisiana. Certainly some good fishing round here in the winter. D'Arbonne is certainly your best bet but there are several lakes in the area that can produce in the winter. You can research some old post on here from places like Caney lake, Lake Claiborne, Ouachita River, Cheniere lake, Poverty Point used to be excellent but it's fell off last couple years. Hope this helps

If you'll hang kinda close to that 20 watt fella you'll do pretty good.

There are 5 launch sites on the river, Chenniere lake in west Monroe is ok. Poverty Point about 40 miles gave up 4, 3lb Crappie last winter to CDC members, Blue Thunder caught two of them, He also lives in Monroe. But D'Arbonne is the big draw for miles around. It is about 30 miles North-West up highway 15
