I had to wrestle these guys out of tree tops, it was a blast!!!
I lost some too...

Hi PS,
The water in Belle River is MUDDY.. but as you go back in to the canals off of the river the water clears up.
I caught my fish in tree tops where the water is mixing, all related to "HEAVY" cover.
Several years ago someone on this board posted pictures of a "Jungle Rig", man I'll never forget it.
I'll try to explain how to rig it up, maybe someone has a picture.
You'll put 2- 1/32 ounce bullet sinkers onto your line with the bullet points facing away from each other and the round parts of the sinker facing back-to-back.
Next tie a #1 hook on the end of the line and you're set...... I use power pro, 6lb diameter line......
Drop the shiner in the heaviest cover, you don't need a very big opening on the surface, the bullet sinkers take the shiner right to the zone....
If your hook gets caught, just pop the rod tip, the sinkers will knock the hook right off of the branch. (almost every time!!)
I looked for the most gnarly tree top I could find... Just hang on!!!!!!
Anyhow, that's how I caught them on Saturday

thanks FB.....don't think I ever heard how to rig like that....you made it very clear....sounds good......gotta try it......

Great catch Fishbone, that's the best report I heard from around the area in a long time!!
"So many places to fish so little time to fish them!"
