Lowrance Structure Scan

Just installed structure scan on my boat. It has side scan and downscan. It's hooked up to my HDS5 in dash. Need to buy a network cable to hook up my front HDS5. Can't wait to put it in the water tomorrow to check it out. I hope I can find a few christmas trees buries in Henderson. Guess we'll see. Who else has structure scan and how do you like it?

i absougtely love mine. ive got the 2nd gen hds8 at my console and an hds 5 at my bow. got them finally networked together. there are two ways to "connect the two graphs. the first way is thru an ethernet cable that runs from the unit to the structure scan box. this will allow both units to access the down and side imaging from the sructure scan but keeps each unit kinda separate. the second way is to connect them using a NMEA 2K cable. this is the way i have mine (i also have the ethernet cable thing). the advantage of this way is when i mark a spot on my front graph it will show up on my console graph. now, this NMEA 2K way is kinda complicated. you have to buy a "starter kit" which is the guy at lowrance called it. i also this summer hooked in an external antenna into mine. i got the point 1 antenna. it is supposed to be the cats meow. refreshes much much faster than the internal antennas and according to the guy at bass pro shop will get me with in 3 feet of a marker.

if ya have any specific questions i bet i can answer them. i spent the better part of two afternoons rigging mine up.

I am wanting to get hds soon I liked my raymarine dragonfly and loved it. But it went with the boat when I sold it. Let me know how you like the units linked together
