    Question For Lake Bistineau fishermen....

or anyone else who can offer an opinion. This is the second year for me to fish crappie in the fall/winter. I have found so far that on Lake Bistineau when the fish stack up everyone goes to the Port O Bistineau and fishes the channel. Now this is a long lake and I know there are other places these fish stack up but where? There is a channel that runs from the dam all the way up to the mouth of Dorcheat, what makes the channel in front of the port so attractive? Just North of the Port is the mouth to Dorcheat but I know the fish from the entire lake do not travel to this area just to stack up, or do they ?

    BamaFan,
Maybe I can come meet you up there one day, we can do a little research, and come up with a reasonable solution, then publish our findings..... :D :p

I was wondering the same thing yesterday when we were bass fishing! There were a few people scattered around fishing for crappie south of Port O Bisteneau but the long straight channel in front of Port was loaded with about 50 boats and about every other boat catching fish...

If ya'll figure something out, let the rest of us know!

i normally try to avoid port of bistineau...to many boats for me..there`s other places on the lake thats just as good..the reason so many boats are there they dont have to travel far after launching.huckaby point is just as good.shady point is good.the hay meadow is good..but longer boat rides from the port

There are a lot fish bunched up around the Port area in the winter, but that's not the only place they stack up. I've caught crappie around the Rock area and Beckhams camp as well during the winter months.

Just a few sub freezing foggy boat rides and you will know the best cold weather spots are the ones closest to the boat ramp

I don't know enough about Bistineau to know what all of the different sections are called, but last winter my brother and I put in at the Port and went south about a mile or so. Since we weren't fishing in front of the launch I don't know how the people who were fishing there did, but we caught fish where we were at. Wherever that was. LOL.

You were probably around the Diamond T area. That's another good area to fish.
