    Default Crooked Creek 8-3-2014

Started out spiderrigged jigs tipped with minnows for about 2 hours. Not a bite. Switched over to pulling 4 crankbaits behind the boat. Got hung up twice. That's a pain . Finally hooked something. Brought it in and it was about a 2 lb bass. Was about to leave at 10:00 when one of my poles got a huge bend in it. Hung up again !! Picked up the pole and it had a huge fish pulling on it. Fought that thing for a good 2 minutes when this came to the top.

Size: 130.5 KB 5 lb catfish !! That'll work. On a hot pink crankbait. I had enough after that and headed to the house. Gave the fish to my neighbor.

Spider rigging will be a lot nicer once you install that sport-brella.

oh yea !! I was lucky Sunday morning. Cloudy with a slight breeze. In fact, it rained on me twice. Just a little shower about 5 minutes each.

Same here but I stayed dry. I am going to build a new holder. The prefabbed one I have doesn't like strong winds and running closed underway.

What sized cranks do you pull. I been wanting to try that and spider rigging. I have the holders made just haven't painted and installed them.

I hear you Dapet, I catch a lot of catfish when pulling crank baits. Doesn't matter what I do - speed, line out, etc. Like you did, I give them away or pitch them back. One can easily fill a cooler with catfish pulling crank baits during the summer on Toledo Bend - not for me. Thanks for posting, enjoyed it.

No, too much timber in that lake where I fish. I want to be able to see clearly. Just being cautious I guess, where I fish mid lake.

Yank, I was there at 6:30. couldn't catch anything. Saute86, I pull Bandit 200's. The lake is shallow. For deeper lakes, I would try the 300's. This is only the 2nd time I pull cranks. Went fishing last month at Lake Sardis with guide John Harrison and he schooled me on how to do it. I don't have line counter reels. I just throw them out way behind the boat and go about 1.5 mph.
