is in dry dock with a noise in the lower unit.
Went down to the river this am for some fish catching. My Yamaha has a tapping noise in forward, under load. Drained the lower unit oil and I've got the dreaded sparkles in the oil.
Good news is I've got a back up ( my old johnsonrude) for tomorrow morning. If Mamma gives me yard leave.![]()

What caused that JR? Low on oil? Looks like it was running hot.

Probably Hit something. It was full of oil. Didn't see anything that indicated heat.
When you shock the teeth on the gears and break a tooth the metal destroys the the bearings.
The cost of Parts, new gears, seals, bearings, water pump, etc is almost half what a new unit cost.
Sorry to hear about that.
