Fished the river this morning. I kept 13 sacs. I threw back a bunch of small ones. My largest one went 14 inches and had another go 13.5 inches. Fish were caught in 16 to 22 fow at 18in deep. Fish were tight to structure. I would pick up one here and one there. Lost some nice ones too from them wrapping up in the lay down. Many shiners were harmed on this trip. Everyone I talked too said they couldn't buy a bite. They were all using jigs. I was talking to a man and his wife who were asking me questions about sac fishing. I told them to come over and I showed them how to work a grass bed and a tree top. During this time I picked up 2 little ones. I then proceeded to run the trolling motor up into the grass mat and reverse it and turn it back and forth to stir things up. I then went around to the other side of the mat and caught a 14 inch sac. You should of seen the look on their faces.....lol. I have doing this mid day on the small mats about 10 to 20 ft in diameter. Hey it works.

This could be the Day....
RETIRED LOUISIANA CRAPPIE HUNTER
I found out on accident. I got hung up and when i backed up I prop washed the grass mat. I then caught 3 sacs off a top I had just fished every inch of and not a bite. I then started doing that to each grass mat. I fished each top thoroughly first before disturbing it. Hey I ended up catching one or 2 fish off a top that I had disturbed. Next trip I am bringing my rake.
Some very good adaptions and observations. Thanks for sharing except now I'll have a hard time concentrating during church tomorrow.![]()

Hey Mermentau. A buddy of mine is making brush piles tomorrow. We are going to have a few honey holes on Laccassine Bayou and the Mermentau. Now you are really ruined for church tomorrow.![]()
