That's a good area there at Lanan, you guys should be able to find something. Haven't been in a few weeks myself. Whatever happens, please post a report. Good luck.

Been hitting brush hard at night with minnows. Piles found in 25 to 30 fow have been doing best and fishing 15 to 20 feet down. I have not tried any jigs but have tried the yellow crappie nibbles which produced well. I have had no issues catching the 25 creel limit and have caught enough to cull smaller fish. Last week they were a bit more aggressive but not the case the last 3 or 4 days. Hope this helps...

Here's the report!! Worked on camp all day Friday and till noon on Saturday. We hit the water about 4 Saturday afternoon and fished till 8.00. Hit a few piles we put out last year and caught a few sacs. We then tried on of my larger pies and hit the honey hole. Found them about 19' in 24 fow over the brush. I caught 4 back to back and then told the wives to get up front. For a while action was hot and heavy. We ended up with 47 sacs. Threw about 20 smaller ones back!! Catfish biting everywhere on shiners. We kept 24 catfish and already have meal for next weekends trip. No pics to post as wifes at work and she took pics but a good weekend with good friends. We'll be back next weekend and the weekend of July 4th. Fish were caught just outside boat lane across from Old Yeller landing. We didn't travel two miles.!!

I went with 2 friends and a guide on Friday morning right after a big storm hit at 4 in the morning. Only caught 20 and they were small. he had 2 other boats which did about the same. Not the guide's fault, they just weren't biting. Went to about 5 different brushpiles he had set up. I went out on Saturday morning by myself to some other piles that I knew of . I could see the fish on my downscan, but they just wouldn't bite. Only caught 1 small one. but i'll tell you, that big lake intimidates me. I don't like going there by myself. I'm used to these small lakes around home. My wife and I camped at Cypress Bend. No TV for 3 days. Woke up this morning with chiggar bites all around my you- know- what! Aye yi yi ! Ca fe' mal !

I just have not been crappie fishing since probably early May, not even sure about that. Have not talked to anyone lately that's been either so not much help here. Just working on stuff here and going to doctor lately more than I like. Also had a little problem with my motor that took several weeks to figure out what was wrong. Other nonsense too!

    sorry I couldn't add anything!

I just got back from 10 Days up there. No problem with limits but is did slow down the last few days. They were biting the best in the middle of the day on brush piles for me.

Seems like you always do well up there. San Miguel or Lanan? I have enough in the freezer from the last two trips to hold me until I start back up in the Fall.

It wasn't so bad was it? Ann and I are used to it, don't really bother us. I guess by now Dapet, you know where all of Coon's brush piles are . You're right, that big lake is intimidating on it by yourself. I have learned to respect it. Thanks for the post.

I fish out of San Miguel or on the main lake right out of there. I dont go too far, I find its best to learn one area and fish it. I would be lost going anywhere else. I seem to find something new to fish on every trip, even in that small of an area. We eat a lot of fish and its not too hard to give crappie fillets to friends and family.
