    Default Houston River 5/24

Hit the river today. Kept 12 sacs and 3 bass. Lots of little sacs were thrown back. Most caught on shiners. I saw what I thought was schooling bass and casted a small white beetle spin into the feeding frenzy only to catch a sac. I caught 6 small sacs off the school. That was fun. None were keepers. I caught 3 deep around 8ft off a laydown in 12 fow that had eggs. I am learning the larger fish are deep on laydowns. Lost a few big ones that hung me up. I have been catching numbers 18in deep off grass beds but most are thrown back. Lots of boats out today and they were all catching. Bad thing was they were on my spots.

It is a narrow winding river. I found an area that is 50 ft deep the other day. Last Saturday I caught most of my fish within 300 yards of the hole. Water temp today went up. It was 83 degrees.
