I was always told when the dogwoods were blooming the perch were spawning, but I'm from Winn Parish and it has always marched to a different drummer.

Friday morning found me fishing on Black Bayou Hosston. It was a little windy but there were several people out fishing. The water temperature was 63 degrees and I found some in 8 feet of water. Over a period of an hour or so I caught a nice mess which was all i wanted.
I heard a man say the night before that if you catch a fish on Black Bayou somebody is going to see it. It was not long before I noticed three or four boats that seemed to be drifting my way. I was using a white beetle spin and the others all seemed to be using jigs. I did not see anyone else catch anything.
Now for the interesting part. when i cleaned the fish I noted that most were females and they still had eggs. I have always been told that when the dogwoods bloom the spawn is over. Well that is not so this year. These fish have not spawned yet. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks.

They haven't spawned in Lake Erling neither.
All the big fish we cleaned this weekend had eggs. First time this year that we have caught fish on the trees. Jim
Rudd fishing
I always heard it meant there biting, not spawning
If this keeps going we're going to see bunk beds in those beds. Top for the Bass and the bottom for the WP. This time of year....Gotta go to know!!!...SLIP
