The new weather station we installed two weeksago, let out an Alarm at 3:45 .... It silenced at the exact instance I pressedthe button on the clock. I made Coffee, Sausage Biscuit, and got dressed forwork.... The Wife said, “Did you know its TWO Hours Early?” So she got up and turned off the alarm on theclock! Chickens don’t know what time it is with the lights on. Work finished, Iwas home at 6 am. Bro was knocked out of bed and he wanted to finished thegarden planting. "Why don't you go ask Delma?" I woke her up when I came in to ask. She said, "The sun isn't even up yet and I haven't even had a cup of coffee yet." I went outside and hooked up Galactica, caught about 2 dozen minnows out of the 30 gal. aquarium and I was ready to go. Got back in, part of the first cup of coffee was down. "Are you going fishing in your PJ's?" So about 9 AM we got to the lake. I've been up since the "alarm" went off nearly six hours ago. Delma is still a little groggy (she's not a morning person AT ALL). Since there was a lake wind advisory in effect, we found a secluded place out of the wind and began fishing. At this time, we discovered that the minnow dip net was in the truck on the console. Oh well, catch them by hand (if you can). It's almost as much fun as catching crappie although they are too little to eat. We fished all day and mangaged to catch 10. Delma caught all the big ones. Two of them were females that hadn't laid all their eggs yet. The two biggest fish were females that hadn't laid any eggs yet at all. I thought the rest were males. But when cleaning the fish, we found that we had caught only 2 males. Six had already laid most of their eggs. Eight out of the 10 weighed over a pound. The other two were 3/4 pound. This morning, when I got up to go to work, Delma said, "Thank you for taking me fishing. I had a good time."![]()

Nice story, thanks for posting. Chasing them minners around without a dip net is almost as bad as chasing the crickets around in the cage, except for while a minner gets loose you can pick it put. The crickets live in the boat until they die of old age.

Great story, thanks for sharing.
It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings.

I'm about to go to work. Now ya can't be making me smile right about now so ... But that was down right enjoyable... Thank you.
A bit early of a start, but turned out to be a good trip for you! Enjoyed the post.
Thanks All ,,, Tracker I got a good laugh chasing Crickets, You de man.... Things in the minner buckets really are like rockets when there are only 3 or 4, but the last minnow is educated. One minnow was still on the hook when the fish was netted. t got knocked off the hook and fell in the water... Delma was laughing as I was chasing it with the Trolling motor and dipping with my hat to get the little bugger... The Crappie won that one because I got a Bird Nest of line on the tip of the Pole, He grabbed it the instant it hit the water![]()
