I tend to just like the 1/32 unpainted jigs with the larger red sickle hook. I also use the weed less ones with the black wire sticking up in front of the hook. No issues with missing fish and I use power pro so the sickle hooks bend easily in case you still hang up.
I may be crazy, but I think jig head color can make a big difference sometimes. I have had all black and chartreuse jigs on and one pink head and they would only hit that pink head even though I had five other rods out. Maybe it goes to the old adage of what your confident in, but in my opinion it an make a difference. What do others think?
Lead heads. On our last tourney on Darbonne the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners all used lead heads. I think it makes a difference sometimes, but I'm not going to the extra expense. Hard headed I guess.LOL
Clear water = silver
Stained = chartreuse

you are probably more right than wrong. like someone mentioned earlier, I don't buy the colored heads cause you can't always find them on the hook one may want. I'll have to quit being lazy and go ahead and paint some. where is the best place to get some powder coat or what is the best paint to use? anyone have any suggestions? thanks for getting me off my butt :)
I fish mostly with plastics. Painted, unpainted, can't tell a difference between my catch rate. I usually use unpainted.
I am like the others I like pink,silver & orange, for as the sickle hooks I don't think it matters what kind of hook you use as long as you use a loop knot.

Well I believe it depends on the water clarity in the area you are fishing but to me the best color is PINK! I have caught on this color in the very clear water of toledo bend and also in the very stained water of bundicks lake.
