This morning I hit the river at sunrise. I was the first boat. I only caught 3 dinks. I fished hard and covered alot of ground. They just weren't biting. I got off the water at 10:30. Went to a funeral at 2pm and was back on the water by 4:30. I picked up a few small ones at Monlezun Canal. I love how everyone follows the no wake zone. Had a shrimp boat pass me on a plane. What a D K! Between that and all the other boat traffic. I headed south. I found fish at a super secrete spot...lol. Lets just say its an old drainage canal that I was lucky to get in. The first 50 yards is shallow. Too shallow for a trolling motor. After that the average depth is 4 to 6 ft deep. I caught 8 and missed a bunch. I was trolling the banks and twitching my jig with about a foot or two of line. Every few yards I would get a hit. I would stop and try again but they wouldn't hit it again. I had way too many pull loose before the net. Quite a few nice fish lost 5 or more per each fish that made it into the boat. I managed to net 2 at 12in and one at 14in. the other 5 were 8 to 10 inches. If I could of just had a little more time. Now next weekend needs to hurry and get here. I finally found the fish now I just need to get back on them. I have them iced down and going to clean them in the morning. Too tired to full with them tonight. By the way be careful there was a lot of snakes out. A duck blind had 7 sunning in it. When I went for my phone to take a pic they started hitting the water. Here is a few pics to enjoy. Poor shallow runner, he was getting a play by play of pics today.....lol. I did promise to bring him to that spot as soon as he hits land. Pics to follow I forgot to re-size them.
