Default Crooked Creek launch fees have gone up.

for those of you unfamiliar with this lake, it's a very small lake near Pine Prairie in Evangeline Parish. It's run by the parish Police Jury. Well, they recently went up on their rates on everything, which is ok. Everything has to go up sooner or later , right. Well, they went up from $4 to launch a boat to $5. No big deal. That's about what all other launches cost. They also tagged on a $2 per person fee to fish !! It'll cost you $9 for you and a buddy to fish. Ridiculous! Have any of you ever encountered a seperate fee for fishermen? I'm contacting my police juror to let them know how i feel. Maybe I'm over reacting, but this really hacks me off.

Helps me justify the extra gas to go to Larto. I liked fishing at CC just because not any boats and absolutely beautiful, but not going back with a charge like that. Is Chicot, Indian, doing the same?

I don't know about Indian Creek, but Chicot is only $2. Now if you go to CC EARLY, before 7:30, there is nobody at the gate and you can launch without paying anything. but if someone is at the gate, you'll have to pay.

No, Paw Paw, this is not private. It's owned and run by the local police jury. Our tax dollars at work. HA !!

Never heard. Of charging each fisherman. Need to start a boycott to make them change

I would argue that they lack the power to charge a fee to fish over and above the price of a license, as that's the State's prerogative. But then again, I've not researched it. I would notify the DWF and get their comment.

I wouldn't mind the fee if they could guarantee "live action". I wouldn't have sandwich money if I fished there.

I already have contacted the Police Jury over this. It is insane. It cost me $13 to take my kids fishing. I told them to spend that money on something wise. Its the last they are going to see from my wallet.

tell them if they installed a drop box for the $5 launch fee and fired the person they hire to collect the other fees, they wouldn't need that $2 per fisherman. In fact, IF I went back, id tell the person at the gate taking my money that I planned to petition the police jury to do just that EVERY time I gave them my money.

"Hey...you still workin here? Hmmm...well, my buddies and I are sure gunnin hard for your job! Hope you got your resume together....bye now"
