Default Larto: Labor of Love, Thur 3-13 thru Sat 3-15

Well we missed em this year. We fished like maniac's (all day) managed 80 (including 10 cats) Thursday, 48 Friday, and 30 or so Saturday. The fish were mixed at best with only 1 that would scare the "large" mark on my scale. Fished the "Buzzard Roost" area and the other bayou that goes to Shad Lake. 1 from Long Branch. 12'-14' deep in 14-20 fow. For those going there in a week or 2, I would say that it will be MUCH better shallow....not now. Myself and Roger and Buddy (2 pros) had great time again this year but the fish didn't play along. They torched em last week but this week it tapered off from slow to barely a crawl from Thursday on through Saturday even though the weather seemed to look better as the week went on. Staying at Buds we caught 3 in 30 minutes shallow in open bayou (across from Buds) before the rain set in. I think they are VERY close to moving in. This winter needs to hit the exit and night temps need to line out north of 55 with no fronts. I would love to be there in 2 weeks. Met some nice folks at Buds and it looks like everyone was having a good time. Get a SLIP CORK and your favorite jig and go at it in a week or 2. No nibblets necessary. When the move in they will react first. Larto looks a little low to me...could be good for the canal side of those Button Willows along the bank if it doesn't get a big rise. Good luck to those going in a week or so. Keep us posted.....SLIP

Great post. I had a friend that went Friday and they only caught 3 at the buzzard roost. You did well.

Was there Saturday afternoon and Sunday until the wind blew us off. Caught about 30 but pretty slow. Was planning on fishing today but cold and wind sent me home. This is my first year white perch fishing and looking forward to pulling a cork.
