What Happens To Those BIG Females?

Once they lay their eggs? Do they move to deeper water and go on hunger strike for awhile? I would think that once the males move to the beds, those big girls would want to start gorging themselves on shad, or whatever crosses their paths.....

If it is Black Crappie they Relate to structure. They first move back to their staging areas usually 10 feet or more then later toward deeper, However that does not apply to south Louisiana... The water warming the shad will still be heading shallow out of the channels, Spread out over wide areas ..... Treetops , Treetops , Treetops... Buried as deep into them as you can poke a jig into Use Braid with Leader.. Smaller fish will be above the slabs. If possable keep the boat shadow away from the top. Most fish Just outside the channel where the water just starts to drop into the channel. Most are hugging the botton and dont show on the depth finder.. Catfish will haunt the same area on the ledge

What does apply to South Louisiana

That's what I'm trying to figure out in the Bayou Black area that I fish. Open marsh canals and tree lined oilfield canals that average 6-10 feet deep. I would assume the staging area to be the small drop offs, points on intersections or submerged weed lines and lay downs 10-20 feet off the bank maybe 3-5 feet deep.......I just don't know. Hoping to learn after the next full moon, when I assume most of the bigger fish will be off the banks.
