All the talk about the spawn inspired me to check some spots they should show up, but nothing yet. 2 tiny ones and a monster shoepick that soaked me. I got him in the net though, and when I released him he soaked me again. I felt the cold water go straight down to my butt. I was coming in soon anyway and he gave me some "live action".

Hey, I fished all around stephensville Sunday, water temps were steady 53.5 deg...
Seems early there too.
Caught me a few of those fresh water sharks Sunday, they will absolutely destroy a white/chartruse spinner bait....
Gotta say one thing, every one you catch has a big smile/grin on when you pull em' in!!!

I have caught spawning white perch in SW La. in early Feb. Also, I find the larger the stream the later the spawn. I caught spawning perch the day after specklebelly season closed last year. Wife wasn't very happy. No down time between hunting and fishing. Blacks are first, then the whites
