That would be a good starting point. Not too far to the channel. I would fish deep in the channel. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Will be a first time there for fishing so any advice is appreciated. The lady at the park said for a kayak I should aim for the North launch.

FISH for LIFE
HUMANKIND......be both
Well only week late but made it. Spent most of my time in the channel until I met a regular who said he never caught there. He had 5 to my zero fishing under mats. Well the sun was sure welcome.![]()
we have a lot in common........time in the sun....fishing.....and then there's fishing......
I'm gonna make my way out there one day. Looks like you had beautiful weather. They still working on the cabins?
I've caught some in the channel before. With so much cover, it's always hard to find them.
That place is really different than what I'm used too. I could see my paddle down as far as I could shove it. It's 8' long. As you paddle outside the channel you can see below a strange landscape with dead granavolis scattered everywhere. Some places there are zones of strange looking algae stuff a few feet down that give a lima bean green tent to the water from a distance.
Another interesting factoid is that the yo-yo folks are doing good. They only catch at night fishing just under the surface. Now if the fish are feeding shallow at night it's not surprising that I didn't find anything deep during the day. I just feel like the fish see too much of me gliding over them in that super clear water. I got a lot to learn in that environment.
