    Default cypress 09.28.2013

me and jerry went to cypress this morning. met bigjohn and his wife out there. it was a fun day to get back on the water. hadn't wet a hook in almost 2 months. caught 3 or 4 spider rigging our shiners in front of the launch. went thru a long long dry spell and picked up and went in front of the beach in the channel and caught about a dozen more on jigs. had three really good fish. left about 11 oclock. gave fish to bigjohn. hopefully he has some pics. overall it was a good day. need some cooler weather and much cooler nights. that will get them rolling.

Congrats on the catch. Can't wait until I am back on the water. Work schedule has been crazy.

I forgot to say this, but I used my two solo rods/reels. I loved them. very light and well balanced set ups. can't wait to use them at darbonne.

thanks for the post Doc. We have a long weekend next week and I am thinking about taking the camper to Cypress and give them a try. It is supposed to be cooler but still may be to early.
Has the boat and jet ski traffic slowed down yet?

hey buster, it should do nothing but get better and better for the next 4-6 weeks. I would recommend you start across from the beach on the edge of the channel. the water is about 10-11 feet deep and the channel is roughly 16-17 feet deep. I tried to stay in 13-15 feet of water. I was fishing a double jig rig, the best color for us was a blue grass bobby garland. but we did catch several on elec chicken. all on pink heads (imagine that).

we only saw one tuber out there and he was launching when we were loading our boat to come home. didn't see a single jet skier. so I think we are good to go with the weekend warriors. good luck and I might see ya out there next Saturday. I will shoot ya a message if I go.

    good luck,

Doc, thinking about fishing Cypress this weekend and it's been a while since I've fished there. Would you recommend starting near the Parks Rd. launch or by the beach? Was wondering if the rain and cooler (still warm but not summer weather), has them biting again.

Will post pics if we get to go.....
