    Default Prize pack from Slab

Picked up the prize package from Slab today at the post office. It's from the food contest I won. Nice Wally Marshall rod, reel, and lines:

Thought I would share with you guys. This is the first time I have won anything except for the time a few years ago when I was able to name the original colors of Fruit Loops in a contest . Thanks Slab!

If you need me to break it in, let me know. Nice prize, but you know me, I would have rather sat down and ate your food.

    Thank you for your post.

I do like that reel though. Well all of it is great stuff, but open that package, you might be surprised at the quality of that reel.

Randy thanks for posting the picture. As you know I won the same prizes in the recipe contest and they look like they will be a nice asset to my style of fishing. Sorry I haven't posted pictures yet but we've been tied up and the weather has been terrible and rainy. I was hoping for a little sunshine today so as I could take a picture.

Thanks again Slab, and you are right. That little reel is real nice and looks and sounds like high quality. It kinda reminds me of a couple of the 2 Lews bait casting reels I have from way back. Linda has already set her sights on the rod and declared "that's mine". Oh well, you can't win them all, even when you win. If that helps her recuperate then she can have it. It would be worth much more than that to get her back in the boat.

Hey PPG, how do you use that reel? Looks like a small bait casting reel. Does it back lash? Will it throw 1/16 and less?

JR, I haven't tried to use it yet, but yes it's similar to a small bait casting reel but I don't think it is made for casting. I think it would best be used on a spider rigged pole or troller rod. It does have a star drag and a spool tensioner. The Lews reels I mentioned in my post are small bait casting reels that are capable of casting very light baits. I have 2 or them, a right hand and a left hand that I've used with 1/8 oz. spinner baits and small crank baits.
