Let me say first that i just found this site a few days ago and I'm hooked! Pun intended. Seems like a great community of fishermen here.

I learned to fish sac-a-lait from my dad as a teenager in Henderson. Sac-a-lait fishing was his passion. The boat that I have now my dad actually bought new in '94. I bought it from him about 6 years ago when his health started declining. Back then I had very little time off to do much fishing but I went every chance I got.

Well dad passed away a little over 4 years ago. I haven't put the boat in the water since then. A few weeks ago my wife and I were driving on I-10 over the lake and I got all nostalgic. I started telling her fishing stories of my dad and I fishing there and she suggested I bring the boat out of retirement and take up fishing again. Now that I work a 14 & 7 schedule I have more time to fish so I took her advise.

Dad was my fishing mentor and advisor. Since he's gone I really don't know where to turn for advise about fishing anymore so I figured I'd start here. I'm probably about 3-4 weeks away from getting the boat completely set back up and re-registered but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a few places to start fishing.

I live in Opelousas now so I'm kinda centrally located between Henderson and Chico/Miller's but I don't mind driving a little farther. I really appreciate in advance any advise or help you guys can give.
