Maringouin Bayou

Hey Guys,
I fish Maringouin Bayou this morning (Saturday) from 8:00 a.m. to about 1:00 p.m. and struggled to catch about a dozen sac-a-lait. The water is still high, but it is falling out of the woods at a good pace; problem is, it is bad water I believe. It really smells bad, so I’m thinking its bad…just my thoughts! All but 2 of these fish were caught between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on really deep structure…10 to 12 ft.
Fishervet, I know you were asking for tips because you are going to that area tomorrow…based on what happened to me today, one thing I would suggest is that you not get out there until about midday, then look for the deepest stuff you can find. If you are familier with the area, you may know that as you head north from the landing you come into an open area where there is a house boat on the west bank. If you fish the bank north and south of the house boat, a good ways from the house boat, there are some deep areas. Because the water is falling the conditions are changing everyday, so you never know…unless you go!!
