Lake Verret

Ok...
Either I've lost it or there is a problem in the Verret area.
I spent the weekend fishing for sacs around crackerhead and bay alcide.
Struck out!!!

the water is a little high but looks GREAT!
I don't get it.

I let 35 perfectly good shiners swim free.....
I'm hoping the basin turns on soon.

and one more thing,
couldn't even catch a used to be "illegal" bass.
I would have put money on catching a 13 -15/16 inch bass, but it didn't happen either.

something bad is going on there......used to be my favorite fishing hole...have you heard anything from the Sherman & Cheramie areas....

Maybe its salt water intrusion from the failed salt dome..........I used to fish the lake itself this time of year. I save the canals for the winter. I would target lay downs and dead stumps. Its work but the spots that you find fish will continue to hold em. I would tip my jig with a small piece of night crawler. If the water's high then look for moss hanging IN the water. Its a haven for critters that fish love.

I spent sunday morning throwing frogs, spinnerbaits, speed craws, red shad worms (the best bet of all), for bass and caught 6 gar.
I'm telling you, there is something really wrong, worth a look by La. WLF.

I spoke to 4 fisherman who also had zip......

that area is off limits for me... for a while....

Fishbone, I know what you mean!! Seems like there was no/very short ( only caught a few in crakerhead for about 2 weeks) spawn this year, the water was high are green!! Tried a lot of times on the south end with the same results. Spoke to a lot people that usually catches good in the lake and have not been doing well at all. Don't know if it was Isac , 8 inches of rain in two days at the wrong time, a warm winter, wind blowing hard for months on end, are all of the above!!! Just hopping that the fall and next year will be better.
