to catch a few crappie at Poverty Point in the summer?Would you fish the brush piles or try to find them under docks.My other idea would be to fish the deeper water that was the old bayou,maybe troll a few minnows or crankbaits.

We've caught some fish in late summer fishing the stumps along the edge of the old bayou macon. Don't know anyone that trolls it in the summer so i can't help you with that one.

The deeper water of old Bayou Macon was my original thought but I figure either the wind or ski boats would make fishing it tough.I've never fished the main lake...always stayed in the no wake areas at the north end.Planning on trying it Friday...heck, if I don't catch anything,it's still a good day.

Try the boat slips at the marina and the deeper water. Also and I haven't done this but I would try some of the piers and boat houses that are in the coves next to the deep water. I would think if you could find a few with 10ft or so of water with some shade, maybe.

someone told me the they could catch a double limit at will fishing the north marina but had been run off by a GW or manager...something about electrical wiring????that happened several years ago. Has anybody ever pulled crankbaits at Poverty Point?

The deep channels are pretty narrow and have a lot of submerged trees along them so I would think you'd probably lose some crankbaits if you trolled there. But, I have never done it.

Not Poverty Point but.........I fish deep open water this time of year pulling crankbaits. Works for me.
