Just read on the news star that International Paper has donated the lake to the state. The status of the lake has been in limbo since IP's Bastrop mill closed about four years ago.

My fears were that the lake would be drained and eventually be replanted in pine or that it would be sold off to a private group. But i'm glad to hear that us regular folk will get to enjoy the lake for years to come.

Now it looks like the LDWF plan to drain the lake to remove some of the trash fish and then restock the lake.
