One of my "bayou-boy" neighbors invited me on a spur-of-the-moment trip to Bayou Benoit yesterday - my first time there. We arrived at his spot just in time for the thunder to begin, and within 15 minutes we were rather damp. But a few sacs had bit, so we toughed it out and soon the rain stopped. Fished around a half-hour more, then the sky got black and the thunder started rumbling again, and we hauled butt - a bit too late to keep from getting thoroughly soaked and well-chilled again.
Anyway, considering the short time we were actually able to fish, we did okay - eight between 9 1/2 and 12 inches long. I caught my four on a blue and chartreuse tube around two feet beneath a float, Terry fished a little deeper but the same way. The water was low and fairly nice, and all the fish were tight to timber.
And I believe I could do it again - without the rain, of course!![]()
