Size: 48.0 KBThree recent trips with some success.....the sacs were slow to me so I tried to add a few bass to the batch...2/17 (Thursday pic 1) started the day at my favorite bass spot and picked up a 6# bass on a white Chatterbait.....then on to Cheramie and caught 12 fair sacs (shiners) then someone gave me 7 more so 19 sacs and one big bass that day....2/20 (Sunday pic 2) same routine and picked up a 4# and 2.5# bass then in Cheramie picked up 6 sacs on shiners.......2/22 (Tuesday pic 3) I couldn't find any shiners (3 places) so I got some frozen grass shrimp....never did that before...picked up one bass at my spot then on to Cheramie...tried the grass shrimp (and jigs) and only got one crappie so I tried several canals and picked up 2 more nice bass on white spinnerbait.....on all 3 trips caught plenty small bass, gar and choupique and catfish...............my stepson has a fairly new catering business in New Orleans and he has been working his butt off....so we decided to cater him a fish fry lunch at his house in New Orleans Monday (2/21) as a reward for all his hard work...we took everything necessary to cook up a nice meal for him and some friends....fresh fish, sweet tater fries, hushpuppies and salad.....not a bite left....it felt good....rest today and tomorrow then back on the water Friday...I attached a couple of my Wife's latest bird pictures she takes when we go out.....

Bruce sounds like you and Didi have been having a blast. I like that last part about catering to the stepson, that's what live is all about. Keep it up.

PS...thats a great week of fishing, i used to be a shiner fisherman way back when...if you can catch bass on artificial, you can catch sacs...its a matter of confidence...get a a long pole 10 footer, use a 1/32 oz jig head with your choice of jig tail...anything with chartreuse will do (black, blue, pink) under a small cork..i have fished that area and bayou black for the last week or more...worst day has been 37 sacs...like most jig fisherman, we fish a lot of spots...move a lot...shiner fishing is a slower pace..but ...you can catch lots of sacs on jigs..my friend would kill me if i told ya where we were today but we had 115 sacs...biggest 1lb 11oz

BOB, most of the time it's not where you catch them but how. If you told of your secret honey hole you would have 50 boats in there the next day and none would make a catch worth bragging about. Of course they say even a blind hog can find an acorn now and then.

PS..paw paw gene is right. and really there is no secret honey hole...i was just lucky enough to be there yesterday...was back in your spot in (back end of union oil)...couldnt do anything wrong..but thats how it is when you catch them actually on the nest...they hit anything you toss at them..hopefully the action will still be on when ya go friday,,,i have let everything go for the past two weeks, full of row...
