I've never fished it but know it has, or had had a nice population of crappie and bass. But as soon as the water warms a little the jet skis and skiers take over making it a little harder to fish in peace and quite. Riverc, y'all plan on coming back down for a visit.

Not this year I used to live in New Roads my family still does. Have not fished that lake in years....I just do not hear much about it on this forum..It was a good bass lake years ago.I used to catch lots of bream, bass and catfish on the lake.

the lake has been ruined....they killed off the grass and the lake is silting in.....I hardly ever catch anything there....probably won't go back especially since Old River is so close and much better......the Corp of Engineers is doing an extensive study on how to improve the lake...I used to catch 2# sacs there, big bream and bass years ago but those days are gone....

Thanks for the update...Sorry to hear that it was a good fishing lake back in the 70's and 80's I guess its all about recreation and the money it brings to New Roads.

    I agree - I won't go back, haven't been there in years.

Gator...you would like Old River....just not enough big birds there for my photographer....there is a bait shop (shiners, etc) in Morganza at the North end of town...also, they sell shiners at Old River Landing.....where most folks launch.....
