Bobfish, I saw your shell cracker video on utube. That is some monsters. Did you catch a bunch? What bait were you using? I've always wanted to fish in the basin, maybe some day...... When I cross it on I-10, there is a big area of open water with cypress trees in it. I never see anyone fishing that area, is that because it is too shallow?

tiger...that day was pretty good..had 3 over 1lb in the first 6 fish i caught..the Basin goes on forever...i either fish out of adams off of la 70 or at russo's in morgan city...the key to the basin is to watch the river levels..ideally you would like it to be fallen and below flood stage..i just use a small jig 1/32nd oz under a cork,,if its slow i tip it with a crappie nugget or worm..color always depends on water clarity..good luck if you go
