    Default Kentucky Lake Question

I was looking to take the girlfriend camping this weekend on Kentucky Lake. Thinking about Big Bear but was wondering about water levels. Are the bluegill still on the beds and are the Crappie biting anywhere? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Not sure about the crappie, but we caught a few gills and crackers Monday after work. We kept 19 and 4. They were caught in the same general areas that they usually bed in. They say the catfish bite is on in the flooded bays but the water is starting to come back down again.

My wife and I caught a bunch of bluegills and even 2 nice crappie (both still had eggs) throwing jigs tipped with wax worms in about 10 feet of water on points where the gills normally spawn. These were on KY Lake Sunday afternoon.

Monday a friend and I caught a bunch of cats on rock ledges and a ton of gills on a rocky point on Barkley. The gills were on the same pattern as Sunday. He had one shellcracker about 1 1/2 pounds. We only kept about 25 male gills but released who knows how many? The gills were in 6-10 feet of water, a few up against the flooded timber.

Sorry for the late report but I have been in technical difficulties. Memorial day weekend was still decent on Ky lake. Caught about 40 keeper crappie in limited fishing. Fished the stake beds early before the boat traffic got crazy around Big Bear Spent alot of time taking the 2 year old niece boat riding but a man has to do right.

Went again yesterday and fished Jonathan creek. Did not find the fish. Very tough day and the people got thick around noon. I expect alot of the traffic was because of the tourney. Would appreciate some help on a summer pattern on Ky or Barkley. Will troll or fish deep structure. Just not sure where to do either. Never lived close enough to the lake to fish any time other than the spring. Thanks
