    Default Hardy Lake

Heading to Indiana on Hardy Lake Friday. Ran into a friend at BassPro who tore up the gills on Friday. Two guys caught in the upper 100's and that sounds like something I want to try out. Never been there before but if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Being a holiday weekend, you should get there early. The word is out, and man does it fill up fast! Get a map when you come thru the gate . I fished there 2 wks. ago there was alot boats everywhere. Most were bass fishing. The west end is full of stick-ups, so be carefull if you attemp to get up in there. Just west of Wooster ramp on the north side, was full of beds, but we got there late an the bass fishermen had already thrashed the banks pretty hard, an I think they were spooked out by the time we got there. Good luck!

I talked to my buddy who was there over the weekend and he told me the exact same thing you said. He said to go into Wooster Ramp and they are bedding once out of the cove to the left. I am going to get there by 9:00am Friday morning so hopefully I will be there before the holiday crowds do. Thanks for the info.

They are all over the place right now, and fairly easy to catch. You will have to weed out the small ones, but thats anywhere you go. Stay around the Wooster area, and you will find alot of shallow flats loaded with them. Like everyone else mentioned, lots of traffic, I have also heard of a few tourneys going this weekend.

It would be hard for me to get excited over the bluegill at Hardy. I consider myself primarily a bluegill fisherman, and I haven't caught a decent one there in over 15 yrs. On the major Indiana reservoirs...good crappie/bass fishing usually means lots of gizzard shad, and small bluegill. Now redear.... that might be another story. I guess I would have to see pictures with a measuring stick to change my mind.

I just talked to a friend of mine who fishes Hardy on a regular basis and they caught fifty nice redear last week. Apparently the bluegill aren't real big but the redear are making a strong comeback. He says they're running over ten inches, that's a big ole cracker on the end of your pole.

    Default Hardy

Jigboy, I havn't fished Hardy this year, but have several times in the past. The problem will be the pleasure boaters. It will be really crowded this weekend. Its a small lake and so it doesn't take much to fill it up. Nine in the morning will already be too late all the good spots will be occupied.

Didn't do good. Only caught five big red ear. Just as you said, the lake was packed at 9:00am. I only saw one boat catching a lot and he had crickets. He was pulling gills left and right. I like the lake and did catch a lot of little bass. I will enjoy crappie fishing there next year for sure.
