Not a bad day at Guist Creek
Wanted to go somewhere and couldn't decide where to go. wanted to stay away from T-Ville because of the accident there yesterday so I decided on Guist Creek. We started out throwing for bass. I started out throwing every large lure I had trying to catch a large bass. I never had a bite. My step son was tossing a Mepps spiner with a few small bluegill only. We switched to tossing small crappie spiners and actually caught a few small bass and a few more bluegills. Then I hooked what I thought was a pretty good bass when to my surprise it was a crappie that went around 14 inches. Had to be my best ever on that lake as I actually don't ever remember catching one there before. Caught a few more small crappie until I came across some rip rap that a homeone was using as a sea wall. We nailed 25 keeper gills in about one hour. All were males and they were right on the rocks. Not going to lie and say these were redear size but they were about the size of my hand. We probably threw back another 25 that were to small. Got a couple more bags of fish in the freezer and had a great time with my step son who is getting ready to go visit his dad for the summer.
"You should have been here yesterday!!!
